    • aloha E A M Harris. it’s true this is a photograph. however the way i see it, it’s not so much that we take a photograph now, as we make a photograph now. it’s rare that i present a photograph straight as it came, when i click the shutter button. i suspect the way this photo came straight from the camera, might not appeal to you as much as this photograph now does—or at least the nails in the photograph do.

my working process is to use a variety of apps, and adjustment tweaks, and to adjust a lot of variables, until i get the photograph i want. so, yes, i like the look of this image.

i keep these nails around because i know there is this beauty in them. i keep most extra nails and things around when possible, because i know i’ll often want them some time, if not for the intended purpose, then for some other purpose, like a photograph, or a drawing, or painting etc.

when these nails where new they were a satin blue-black. something like the bit on one of the center nails near the top, altho more black, than in the image. i’ve had these nails a long time. long enough they are now mostly rusty. however rust has a lot of beauty in it, if i can just pull and push it out. i pull and push the color, saturation, value, lights, darks and a number of other options around, experimenting, until i get what i like.

so the short answer is, i can’t buy nails this color either. however, i have a lot of fun exploring what i can do, making a photograph like this. I’m glad you see the beauty in it. thank you. aloha r.
