That the haiga may be seen and read as intended, all in one image, I no longer post the haiku separately beneath the haiga, in addition to being within the work.

Please visit and comment in positive ways, those creating haiga for 30doh. Thank you.

    • aloha Cara. yeah, i think we can start out with our idea, however at some point my work often starts speaking up for itself and if i listen well enough we often end up in great places i hadnt imagined when i started out. very cool on that process. yeah, too, i liked that purple bit of color on the Ace of Spades too. that was one of the “unexpected directions” or turns that i chose to keep. because i liked it. it had not been on the agenda initially. when i saw it tho. . . .cool. way fun on the directions our works take us. thank you. fun on. aloha r.

    • aloha Renee. i know i have used “cards” as subject or prompt a number of times. i could probably do a book of repeated prompts. still. . . .it’s fun to try new ways to explore a repeated prompt. this one grew out of the process of looking for cards i’ve found on my urbane hikes. there the box was. i took several photos where i found it. then moved it to other locations. in the end, this location won out. probably because i have such a liking for the paint cloths and papers i place under paintings as i work. for a long time i did that with boards too. this is one of those. fun. thank you. aloha r.
