the National Haiku Writing Month (NaHaiWriMo) prompts are being given by the creator of NaHaiWriMo, Michael Dylan Welch this year—the 7th year. below is what he has to say about what will clearly be a challenge. however, you do not have to write in response to the prompt. the goal is simply to write one (or more) haiku each day.
“Some of the prompts I’ve put together this month may be a little different, playing with parts of speech or ideas in ways that aren’t always just images. I’ll also deliberately repeat a few of the prompts this month, but will be looking for different nuances. You can use each word or phrase directly, especially when asked, or let it take you in whatever direction you like. Let’s see what we can do!”
you can find the prompts on Facebook here.
1-
February 1, 2017 daily writing prompt: HAIKU (write a serious haiku ABOUT haiku, which is hard to do well).
2-
February 2, 2017 daily writing prompt: IS (write about existence itself, or the existence of something, but don’t use the word “is” in your poem).
