NaPoWriMo 2015

Day 3:  Write a fourteener (Haiku Alternative)

fourteener
beneath a golden moon
her first spring kiss

**

Day 4: write a “loveless” love poem. Don’t use the word love. or cliches.

Cadence

she steps
to a window

he steps
to the door

waiting
for a word
to enter

listening
for a silent
day
or two

trying
once more

he to a window
she to the door

cross swinging

a backyard fence

lapsing
into
silence

I remember
these days
of dance

you to a window
and I to the door

**

Day 5: (Haiku Alternative)

4-5-2015 #1

just one wild iris
along the path this morning
I think of mother

*

4-5-2015 #2

shiny shoe children
in all these pastel colors
the first spring parade

*

4-5-2015 #3

springtime robin
across the grass each morning
this bouncing approach

**

Day 6: write in the form of an aubade or morning poem—about dawn and daybreak

Into this Moment

light
leaking into the room
around untethered edges
bedroom blinds

into the silence
of Monday
I wake

into the silence
of sunlight
I breathe

into the season
of spring dawn
I pause

today

**

Day 7: write about money

And Still. . . .

passing paper.
bits of metal.
plastic.
and now the digital
invisibility
of process.

the coin
of our technological
era.

and yet still.
a hunting.
and gathering.
realm

we place.
our trust.
in € £ ¥ $. . . .

April is NaPoWriMo (National—which includes International—Poetry Month). You can follow the prompts or write as your muse otherwise considers appropriate. The prompt posts are informative and revealing. Resources and samplings are often linked in the post. And the prompts. . . . are sure to ripple your thought process about poetry as well as widen your wow Here: NaPoWriMO.

The call for current Frameless Sky submissions (Haiku and/or Tanka) remains open until April 15, 2015. Writings are selected to go with or on the artwork (36 Photographs which I created specifically for this issue).

have fun. aloha. rick.
