The Companionship Color of Words

young days. early days. words opening cracks. into another century. this glimpse into a mind. that sees and saw little. to nothing. of now. yet speaks to the being of human beings. in my century. and the century between. then and now.

I tumble forward. remembering the excitement. of turning this page. reading his words. listening. to his dialogue. watching his story unfold. until years later. I’m ready to listen again. friendship. integrity. commitment. codes. the adventure and devastation of life.

even words I hear. and know. now. brought forward from a long century past. wow.

believable and unbelievable. between the lines. the sounds. the color. of words on a page. a visual I see now. written more than a century ago. layers uncovered. discovered. recovered. this world. that world. another world. revealed. scope. perspective. life beyond a life. wow again.

I close the book. step into this now. these colors. from this century past. my companions. the day tilted slightly. tinted. dipped. in the colors of a book. the words. of a companion. from this century ago.

companionship
the familiar sound
of written words

Altered Photograph Compilation

  • 8 x 12 Inches @ 300 ppi
  • Digital Drawing and Painting
  • iPad 2 Digital Camera
  • Top Camera App
  • Perfect Effects 8
  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 12

This is my response to the Phoneography and Non-SLR Digital Devices Photo Challenge: Editing and Processing with Various Apps, March 31, 2014 found on the Lens and Pens by Sally blog. The theme or focus for the 5th Monday of the month is Editing and Processing with Various Apps.

For the image I’ve used several photographs taken with my iPad 2 and the Top Camera App. The main image is of the title page to a non-copyrighted book which has no publication date. I’ve used a couple of photos from this book plus images from my yard and filters from both Perfect Effects 8 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 12.

My response is in the form of haiga and haibun. Two of the many Haiku and Related Forms in the field of poetry.

Haibun is prose or poetry (other than haiku) plus one or more haiku.
Haiga is image which includes haiku as a part of the image—image and haiku as one work.

Below are the Phoneography and Non-SLR Digital Devices Photo Challenge themes for each Monday of a month:

  • 1st Monday: Nature
  • 2nd Monday: Macro
  • 3rd Monday: Black and White
  • 4th Monday Challenger’s Choice (Pick One: Abstraction, Animals, Architecture, Food Photography, Night Photography, Objects, Portraiture, Still Life, Street Photography, or Travel).
  • 5th Monday: Editing and Processing with Various Apps Using Themes from the Fourth Week (31 March 2014 will be the first challenge for this new theme).
