Breadcrumbs into Lightness ~ #007 March 2014 – Haiga/Haibun Thinking Week #9: Film Quote
Becoming Lightness
ducks on Goose Pond. tranquil. like the end of a fairy tale. a goose. under a downspout. walking in water. a line of ducks. unattached. i listen. the ducks are silent. all i have to do is breathe. and i become lightness. this lightness. this moment. each moment.
unintentionally. i wake. early. slip into a tee-shirt. a layer or two. sweats. a hoodie. and go down stairs. silence. i step out on the deck. into cold air. ducks are setting out across the pond. i watch. i click my camera. i watch. a fairy tale moving. chilly. beautiful. clear. i like this moment.
the smell of pitch pine. a light wind. hesitant. through the trees. the sound. of fallen oak leaves. brittle. dry. tea brown. rustling in the sunlight. a brightness to the day. winter. and bright. the ducks and i and the silence over Goose Pond. i exhale. pause.
i inhale.
one breath.
and then another.
slow. easy. relaxing. pausing slightly. after the exhale. holding for a second or two. before i inhale. slow. easy. relaxing. into beauty. full on. into beauty.
my hands are cold. my nose is cold. i think about the ducks. each day. here. their world. their walk in beauty. i breathe. moments pass this way. i breathe. . . .
i step back inside and look for tea.
