Winter Rains ~ #002 January 2014 – Haiga/Haibun
Winter Rains in the Dark
hard wind and driven rain so loud I can hear nothing else.
the rain suddenly lets up. a door that has come loose on it’s latch bangs open and then shut, still not catching.
I wake out of an early night dream, half in sleep half awake, not sure if I am in my bed or the bed of the dream. I wait until the door bangs again and I know which room is around me.
complete darkness. only the water in the gutter and the drizzle from the roof sounding. I get up to latch the door and find a window slowly illuminated, the only light in the dark room.
just as quickly the light is gone. the rain ramps up fast and hard, drowning out a siren.
