The Ko’olau Mountains are one of two mountain ranges that run through the central area of this island (Oahu) where I live. I can see several views of this mountain range from my house. A pass, which I can also see from my house when it is not coated in clouds, drops over these mountains and connects this side of the island (Windward) to the Honolulu side (Townside). Near the summit of this pass is a breath-altering lookout point which can be reached via a short drive and then a little walk. Often there is a light to strong breeze and sometimes a very strong wind, that sweeps through this area, cool and chilly, around the Ko’olau peaks.
My response to prompt Special #43, Kikusha-Ni’s “the cool of the wind” for the Carpe Diem ~ June 2013.
You are invited to respond to these prompts as well.
Please Note: The Carpe Diem blog will feature “Specials” in July centered around Jane Reichhold’s haiku. Jane is a highly acclaimed and influential writer and speaker. She generously shares her knowledge of haiku and haiku thinking on her insightful Ah-ha Poetry site—which is a great resource as well as inspiration for short form poetry. If you have an interest in haiku, I encourage you to explore what Jane offers.
Also Please Note: Write, view and enjoy haiku over on the Haiku Bandit Society (Blog) June 2013 Moon Viewing Party. The Moon Viewing Party is on and you are invited to attend.
Have fun. Explore haiku. Aloha—Rick
