This is a response to one of Melissa Allen’s haiku that she posted on her Red Dragonfly blog (seed starting).

We have been occasionally collaborating in the sense that I’ve been creating an image when given a subject or theme to respond to without actually having read the haiku the image is intended to be connected with on the blog.

I think we both have been slightly surprised by how well this works at times. Of course, in a sense this is one of the things haiku does – juxtapose two phrase-images that seem unrelated yet upon reflection may be alike in a surprising way. Juxtaposing two works – image and haiku – in a similar way is fun.

Thank you Melissa for allowing me to create in my own way and to play in this way, connected with your haiku. I enjoy doing this a great deal – aloha.
