My response to the prompt “turquoise” for Michael Dylan Welch and his NaHaiWriMo (National Haiku Writing Month ~ February 2013). The event is centered on Facebook. Each day a new NaHaiWriMo prompt can be found on Facebook in the comments: (t)here.
Etegami ~ words (which can be, but do not have to be haiku) and drawing (with or without color) intended to be sent between friends through a postal service, often as a postcard.
Be fun—Write Haiku – Aloha

My grandma had a big turquoise squash blossom necklace also!
aloha Fergiemoto. cool. altho i remember seeing these i dont remember them being worn. maybe i was too young to really notice tho. . . . fun. aloha.
this was also the favorite color of our grandmother!
aloha Kathleen – i think there are times when colors (or other things) become iconic within a generation (or several). there was a time when these necklaces were much more common than they seem to be today, even tho they are still readily available and in some areas still frequently seen. that blue is an amazing color for stone. aloha.
ah, the squash blossom…
aloha Angie. . . . . i may just wait for you to elaborate on that. . . .
it has always intrigued me the connection between turquoise, silver and the squash blossom. i was born in Arizona and still have families there. so i’ve seen a lot of this jewelry first hand. not for a while tho. turquoise always fascinated me as a stone too. fun. aloha.
