My response to the prompt “hike” for Michael Dylan Welch and his NaHaiWriMo (National Haiku Writing Month ~ February 2013) event on Facebook. NaHaiWriMo prompts can be found here in the Facebook comments.
Etegami ~ words (which can be, but do not have to be haiku) and drawing intended to be sent between friends through a postal service, often as a postcard.
Be fun—Write Haiku – Aloha

bwahahaha. mahalo (thank you) and aloha Amy. yeah, i think i was pushing this ku a little. the idea is good—okay, well reasonable (maybe). i’m not sure i quite made it with the ku and visuals. that’s okay. i think i learn more on things that fall a little short over things that work. and this is a splat it down month. so splat it down i do. and that’s fun too. aloha.
I like the idea, and my first reaction was – what fun! That’s why the smiley
I’m with you on the learning curve – I always learn more with the ones that don’t work than the ones that do. In fact – I’ve been reading quite a bit lately about haiku and what makes it and what doesn’t, and going back and looking at old ones I’ve written… I found many that do not quite meet the haiku standard! I love that though… it gives me a chance to re-work them and learn something new. Yup, fun stuff!
cool. i’m glad you saw the fun in it because there was humor intended. or at least a sense of humor. even if i also think it’s accurate in many ways.
way cool on the ku info reading. did i give you the link to Ah-Ha Poetry? that also (because a lot of other places have good info—and different info too) has good info. i think i did, i’m not sure just where i did tho. i dont always know if people get things i post either. which is okay too.
yeah, i have lots of old ku that i see now as not having quite made it. even from a few months ago. . . .
yet in those ku i also see the idea and it is often a good idea. so revamping them makes sense. and applying what i (we) learn on future work too. way cool on this process (imo). yeah, and fun too. aloha
