This is more etegami-like in that simple drawing is involved and there is writing—which in this case I would not consider haiku.
The color may be too complex. Maybe not.
You can compare this same apple banana tree now with an etegami image from November 2011 when I was waiting to plant it.
Reminder Note: The full moon approaches (Saturday) and the Moon Viewing Party is going on now at the Haiku Bandit Society blog. You are invited to attend, contribute haiku, read contributions and/or comment through The January 2013 Moon Viewing Party Invitation here.
Fun on. aloha.

I especially enjoy your reference (for new followers) to the November 2011 image of this plant’s first stage — to see the colors are more primary, the feeling is ‘infancy,’ then this new image’s vivid-colored boldness, diagonal lines, increased stature; and I love “roots/beneath a year/of moons.” ~~ beautiful. ~~ windisfree
aloha WindIsFree – cool. i like the way you see. i’m glad you enjoy the post. you make interesting points about color and line. i like that. thank you. fun. aloha
oh, I like this — esp “beneath a year/ of moons…”
aloha Angie. cool and thank you. yeah, why didnt i think of that before? ha. i’m starting to play with etegami (and postcards). it’s fun to explore in words a little longer than haiku. however i think it is haiku that has given me so much insight into the power and strength of words. i am sure some of my etegami will use haiku. fun on. aloha.
