#01 February 2012: NaHaiWriMo ~ Cherry Blossoms Open
February one
first cherry blossoms
open
These are Surinam Cherry Blossoms. I have been watching these buds since I spotted them last week – yes, the blossoms are now open. This tree is kept small to grow along the fence just outside my kitchen door. I have a number of these trees growing in pots as well – some as bonsai.

Have fun. Join Haiku writers across the Haiku Planet nation. Write one Haiku each day for the month of February 2012 – it’s National Haiku Writing Month (NaHaiWriMo) – the 2nd year – or write one Haiku a day for the year, that would be fun too. Post them on FaceBook if you’d like to play there.

Great to see that you’re involved with NaHaiWriMo! A small but important correction to the banner at the top of your blog, though. NaHaiWriMo is not affiliated with The Haiku Foundation but is an independent event that I created. The Haiku Foundation blog happened to promote NaHaiWriMo, but you might want to alter your banner image so it doesn’t say that NaHaiWriMo is a THF event. For more information about NaHaiWriMo, in addition to its Facebook page, please also visit http://sites.google.com/site/nahaiwrimo/home. Thanks!
Love your February 1 haiku!

aloha and welcome Michael – i’m having a great time in your NaHaiWriMo (including haiku with your alphabet prompts – which i’ve started posting on my blog as i dont have a Facebook account – yet).
i’m very grateful that you took the time to point out my banner error – thank you. i have the feeling that i do things like that more often than i realize.
oh, i’m delighted too that you like the February 1 haiku. thank you again.
NaHaiWriMo is a great – and very fun – event (imo) – yeah, way fun. thank you for taking the time to keep it going. wow, year two – and all year round as well – way cool and congratulations. aloha – rick
Beautiful! Count me in for writing a daily haiku.
way cool Amy. counted. i know sometimes it can get a little hectic, but one of the things i like about doing ku daily is that at some point i let go of “trying” for a terrific haiku and i just have to let one splat out. it amazes me how often those “splat out” ku become the ones i really like. something about that raw visceral burst seems to remain in the perfection of imperfection where perfecting a ku can polish that beauty away. ….if that makes sense. way fun. aloha.
